Hossein Alizadeh, born in Tehran in 1950, is a prominent figure in contemporary Persian music with extensive traditional training. He learned the Radif of Persian classical music from masters like Houshang Zarif and Ali Akbar Shahnazi. Alizadeh holds a BA in Music Composition and Performance from the University of Tehran and pursued further studies in Composition and Musicology at the University of Berlin. He has taught at the University of Tehran and the Tehran Music Conservatory.

Alizadeh's solo career has taken him across the globe, performing in Iran, North America, Europe, and Asia. He has worked with various ensembles and orchestras, including the Iranian National Orchestra of Radio and Television and the acclaimed Aref and Shayda Ensembles. Notable compositions by Alizadeh include Dream, Torkaman, A Time for Drunken Horses, and Nive Mang. His album, Endless Vision, was nominated for the Best World Music Album at the 49th Grammy Awards.

In 1989, Alizadeh founded the innovative Hamavayan Ensemble, which combines traditional Iranian choral singing with classical instruments. This ensemble has featured in many of his compositions, adding a unique dimension to his music.
