An unmistakably expressive voice. Expansive music based on fado. This is Fado Camões, the new album by Portuguese singer and composer LINA_, released worldwide in the spring of 2024 on the German label Galileo Music. Fado Camõesis a unique composition based on the works of Portugal's most celebrated historical poet, Luís Vaz de Camões, and follows the critically acclaimed album Lina_Raül Refree. LINA_ is now accompanied by British producer and musician Justin Adams, in what turns out to be a more personal album, based on Camões' texts, with compositions from traditional fados as well as those written by LINA_.
The Portuguese poet and essayist, Nuno Júdice, describes the album, 'More than fado, more than a Portuguese identity, it is a return to the Iberian spirit that characterized Portugal until the 17th century, which we now see reborn, with the unprejudiced purity of an interpretation where Portuguese and Galician unite in total harmony.'
After the widespread recognition of Lina_Raül Refree, there are expectations for the new work. In 2020, Lina_Raül Refree was named Album of the Year on the prestigious World Music Charts Europe and also won the first edition of the Carlos do Carmo Prize in 2021. Now, with Fado Camões, a new chapter begins together with musician, composer, and producer Justin Adams, best known for productions with Robert Plant, Rachid Taha, Tinariwen, Jah Wobble, or Souad Massi, as well as collaborations with prominent names like Brian Eno and Sinéad O'Connor.
